Logical/Math Learners: Here's how to take advantage of your learning style and increase team success

Join Canadian Motivational Speaker and team expert Tyler Hayden as he helps you uncover ways to engage the mathematical logical learner at work.

As a logical/mathematical learner, you are, well, logical. You appreciate details and figures and approach projects in a methodical, analytical way. You appreciate short, succinct explanations so that you can begin your work with a foundation of facts to support you.

Here’s how you can use your logical/mathematical learning style to better your team engagement:

  • Ask for step-by-step procedures from other team members. If there aren’t any established, offer to do so for the group.
  • Don’t be afraid to ask “Why?” when searching for clarity about projects or problems.
  • If it's unclear, ask for the underlying goal of a project. If it isn’t clear, brainstorm with others until it is established. Knowing the overall goal will not only help you with your approach but will help motivate others on your team.

Bonus: You have a head for numbers and patterns; not everyone does. This is a great skill to have. Volunteer to tackle the number-crunching pattern-finding tasks that other team members might avoid so that they can focus on fulfilling the potential of their own skill sets.
